If a man shall sin against the LORD, who shall plead for him?
If any man sinneth, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: and he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world.–Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; to declare, [I say], at this time his righteousness: that he may be just, and the justifier of him who believeth in Jesus.
He is gracious to him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.
What shall we then say to these things? If God [is] for us, who [can be] against us? . . . Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? [It is] God that justifieth. Who [is] he that condemneth? [It is] Christ that died, or rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
